The eye of the beholder

An artist can never have enough glue or googly eyes.

"I willy willy like glue!"

P.S. At the end of the evening there was NO glue left and two pieces of paper stuck to the dining room table. Yes it was a masterpiece!

Wisdom of the ages

Georgia: "I still love you Mommy, even when I'm frustrated"
Me: "same here"

If everyone could speak as freely as a two (almost three) year old the world would be a better place.

P.S. I never found out WHY she was frustrated.

Sweet dreams sweet girl

This is our sweet girl having sweet dreams.
Upon closer inspection. . .

this is what she was sleeping on top of,
presumably this stuff was giving her those sweet dreams.
This array of goodies includes a get well letter,
pinewood derby car circa the early 80's (thanks Uncle Tim!),
a squeeky toy that is 30 years old (thanks Aunt Lindsay),
and a tub of Canadian diaper cream.

I now live with not one pack rat but TWO.
And NO the other pack rat is not me.

Dirty Laundry

I  wish that I had some really good gossip to share.
Or an old family secret that would shock your pants off.
But I don't.
The only dirty laundry I have is beneath Georgia, and in the closet, and on the bed, and on the floor.
Yes I have a lot of dirty laundry.
Just not the interesting kind.

Seems like heaven

I was reflecting on our "Family Fun Friday" again
and thinking about how lucky we are to have each other.
My sweet little family AND my big extended family
make my life complete.

My last living grandparent passed away on Wednesday.
He was the grandpa that took me fishing, taught me how to water ski, and gave me a love for all things nature.
He would have loved "Family Fun Friday" in the mountains.

I'm so glad we have glimpses of heaven on Earth.

Last Friday

This is what we did last Friday.

Colorado is a beautiful place to live indeed.

Hi.
I know this isn't a picture of our sweet Georgia.
But,
if I win this bike
I promise that the next picture will have Georgia in the bucket.

These bikes are seriously cool.
Wish me luck.

Check them out for yourself at www.madsencycles.com

P.S. I entered to win this bike because my bike was "stolen" AND our stroller always has a flat tire AND we can't find our air pump AND I want to hear Georgia say "bucket bike".

Happy Fall!

This is what Fall looks like at our house.
We have had the most glorious September.
Warm, sunny, and generally delightful.

I do not like saying goodbye to summer.
But if I have to do it, and I do, then I want a long lingering romantic goodbye.

What will Georgia do when it gets cold?
Naked children in the snow is definitely frowned upon.
I will not break the news to her yet,
she doesn't like goodbyes either.

Georgia's missing months

Jesus had the missing years.
Georgia's blog has had the missing months.
If you are reading this,
Thank You.
We started the summer in Vancouver. . .

And ended this most blissful season in Manitoba.

A lot happened in between an ocean and a lake.

Stay tuned.

P.S. This post is dedicated to Barbara B.  who is not obligated to read this blog (because she isn't family), but does so anyway and that might just MAKE her family.

Bliss

I have been so delinquent dear blog.
Many events have come and gone without nary a picture.
I promise to catch up.
In the mean time here is a simple moment.
A blissful moment.
A totally two year's old and loving it moment.

Goodbye Mimi Mae

This is my grandma (Mae) with Georgia Mae last November.
They got along famously.
Both spunky and beautiful.

We had such a nice time together.
You know lots of girl talk and giggling.

We loved every minute of the visit.
We were going to relive it all over again in two weeks.

We didn't get to say goodbye,
but that's okay because goodbyes are really hard.

Instead we look forward to the next hell0.

We love you gram.

P.S. After hearing the news I hung up the phone and whispered goodbye.
Georgia went to the door and waved and blew a kiss.
What a great send-off.

Can you handle this?

Georgia loves life.
It is true - when I was pregnant I prayed and asked and begged for a lot of things.
A happy child is what I wanted and that is precisely what I got.
Georgia loves everything.
She comments daily  on the status of our "teeny - tiny daffydil"
asking "where is it muvver?".
And constantly asks about ALL of her family members.
And yes that means you because if you read this blog you are most likely family.

(If you are not bless you for being interested in the musings of an obsessed mother)

Many of Georgia's happy moments are a result of the family dogs.

Maddie (our dog)
Maggie and Shadow (Mimi and Boppa's)
Lola (uncle John and Auntie Linds)

and

JAKEY (who belongs to Uncle Tim)

This is a picture of Georgia giggling while she holds on to Jakey's "handle".

Doesn't that make you happy?

We are so excited

Spring is here.
And it actually feels like it.
We can hardly contain our excitement.

Apparently we will have to.
Another storm is coming.

Nothing is sadder than tulips in the snow. (for the third time)

P.S. Georgia told me SHE is excited for more "no"
the eternal optimist.

Boss Lady

Large and in charge.
Well truthfully she's really quite small.
But make no mistake she runs the show.
I cannot resist her "peeese Mommy".
I melt instantly when she smiles.
And if you could bottle her giggle you'd make a million dollars.

Hail to the chief.
We wouldn't have it any other way.

olympic woes

Oh say can you see?

It is with a heavy heart that I extend a congratulations to the Canadians.
Georgia and I sit here in disbelief.
This was OUR time.

(Georgia solemnly agrees even though she is half Canadian)

plop plop fizz fizz

It's my birthday today.
I love my birthday.
We ate chocolate for breakfast to celebrate.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

"More?"

P.S. Georgia keeps saying "Happy Birthday Mommy" - "No Happy Birthday Mommy".
I think that is the way almost two year olds sing the birthday song.
I just keep telling her it IS a Happy Birthday.
Then she shakes her head.
Oh how I love Toddlers!

Take a Walk on the Wild Side

Free day at the Zoo!

Pachyderm, Primates, and Peacocks.
We saw it all!
And yes, in true toddler form, the peacocks were the favorite.

A close second was the train ride with Dad.
"Yooking fo Peacocks"

Our wild one fit right in.
The best things in life really are free.

sweet dreams

When Georgia woke up this morning she called me to her room.
"Good Morning" I said.
"What you talkin' about?" said Georgia.

Then I noticed all of the dried mucus on her face,
her raspy almost gone voice, and
a beautiful set of droopy eyes.

What WAS I talkin' about Good Morning?
It was most certainly NOT going to be a good morning.
It was in fact a very sick, pitiful morning.

Oh well she's still the cutest thing ever crusty nose and all.
